There
is no bad way to learn English. All methods are good.
You can learn English by listening to popular songs in English on
the radio, and then confronting random strangers on the street to
ask what
the lyrics mean; you can learn English by reading the advertisements
in a magazine, and guessing at what they are trying to get you to
buy;
you can learn English by becoming an Au Pair in Ireland or Australia;
you can learn English by reading a dictionary for one hour before
going
to bed every night, and trying to make humorous sentences out of each
word; you can learn English by taping flashcards to every item in
your
house with the name of it in English in bright red letters-refrigerator,
telephone, microwave oven; you can learn English by getting a job
in
a pub where most of the clientele are English speakers, or giving tours
of Prague to English speakers; you can learn English by choosing a
subject
you are extremely interested in, like African music or organic gardening,
and reading articles about it in English; you can learn English by
listening
to the BBC and trying to imitate the announcer with the silliest accent,
or by watching Sylvester Stallone movies over and over again until
you
can repeat the lines along with him; you can learn English by reading
children's books, trashy romance novels, the plays of William Shakespeare,
or the lists of ingredients on boxes and cans in the supermarket; you
can learn English by travelling to an English speaking country, but
it's a good idea to learn a little bit before you go; you can learn
English by finding an English speaking boyfriend or girlfriend; you
can learn English, and lose weight at the same time, by refusing to
eat any food that you don't know how to say in English; or you can
learn
English, in a short time and at a reasonable price, by attending classes
at Watson's School of English, Budecská 40, Prague 2.
